Panel Cleaning

Dust, pollen, wildfire ash, and bird debris rob panels of production. Our crews use deionized water and panel-safe equipment to restore output without voiding manufacturer warranties (no harsh chemicals, no pressure washing).

Why Commercial Solar Maintenance Matters

Our O&M inspections are built around the five systems that most affect your system's uptime and production: modules, racking, combiner/pull boxes, inverters, and electrical equipment. Every visit combines a visual inspection with thermal scanning at key connection points to catch problems before they cause downtime.

Protect your production

Soiling, shading, and undetected faults can quietly cut output by 30%+. On a commercial-scale system, that's real money off your bottom line every month.

Shield Check Icon

Reduce risk & liability

Regular inspections identify electrical hazards, roof penetration issues, and code compliance concerns before they threaten your facility.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions about commercial solar installation

Do you repair solar systems installed by other companies?

Yes. TENCO SOLAR services and repairs commercial solar systems regardless of who installed them, including systems whose original installer has gone out of business, been acquired, or stopped responding to service calls.

These are often called orphaned systems, and they are one of the most common reasons California businesses reach out to us. When the original contractor disappears, warranty claims stall, monitoring goes unwatched, and small faults compound into major production losses.

Our takeover process starts with a full system audit: we document the existing equipment, verify what warranty coverage is still active, identify installation defects and code issues, and give you a clear picture of the system's condition. From there we correct what needs correcting and put your system on an ongoing maintenance plan. We service most modern PV solar panel brands.

How much does commercial solar panel maintenance cost?

There are a lot of variables that go into the cost of commercial solar panel maintenance. Final cost depends on system size, roof access and height, mount type, and the scope of services included. TENCO SOLAR provides free, no-obligation quotes for commercial maintenance across California, including a site assessment before we propose a scope.

How often should commercial solar panels be cleaned?

Most commercial solar panels in California should be cleaned one to two times per year. Sites near agriculture, freeways, construction, or in high-dust inland regions typically need quarterly cleaning to maintain peak production.

California's long dry season is the main driver. Panels can go six months or more without meaningful rainfall, so dust, pollen, bird droppings, and wildfire ash accumulate with nothing to wash them away. Soiling losses of 15 to 35 percent are common on neglected commercial arrays, and on a system large enough to power a warehouse or hotel, that lost production adds up quickly on your utility bill.

Facilities in the Central Valley, the Inland Empire, and anywhere downwind of farmland or heavy traffic should plan on the higher end of that range. TENCO SOLAR builds cleaning frequency into every maintenance plan based on your actual site conditions rather than a one-size-fits-all schedule. For more detailed information, follow our solar panel cleaning guide here.

How reliable are solar systems?

Solar systems have no moving parts and are designed to stand up to the elements. You can expect your solar system to provide reliable service for 30 years or more when the system is professionally installed and maintained.

Can solar panels be repaired?

It depends on what part(s) and how much of the panel is damaged. Our team can repair many problems by replacing glass or repairing wiring connections.

Are damaged solar panels a fire hazard?

They can be, which is why we strongly recommend prompt repairs of any damaged systems. If the wiring is faulty, the insulation is insufficient, or the PV module is compromised, there is a fire risk.

Will a solar panel work if it’s cracked?

Solar panels that are not significantly damaged will continue to generate electricity. However, they will not perform as well as panels that are not compromised. It's best to get it checked professionally to know for sure.
